| Comments from Roger Rieman, webmaster ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This years events were strategically planned by Wayne Clements and Ralph Sveda. The reunion was very successful with the events centered around the Canopy Palms Resort on Singer island near West Palm Beach. This was the first Cony reunion that my wife Rita and I have attended and we had a most enjoyable time. Other plans kept us from partaking in the other festivities other than the Banquet held on May 12, 2002. The meal was excellent as was the camaraderie. It was obvious to me as a newcomer that the majority of attendees look forward to this annual event to be with each other and catch up on what's happened since the previous reunion. |
| Comments from Ken Cox, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was really impressed with the seaside Memorial Ceremony. What an appropriate place to remember those lost at sea during the war, as well as those other shipmates who have "gone to that great Liberty Port in the sky". Taps was well done and brought out several sets of "misty" eyes. This is my second Cony reunion and I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as I did my first one in Wisconsin. I also enjoyed talking with the WWII vets. These guys never cease to amaze me with their memories of the Cony's early days. I am looking forward to serving my fellow Cony shipmates during next year's reunion in Charleston." |
